Shaira Duante

Shaira’s journey began in the Philippines, and after moving to Canada, she started at Genesa in 2020 as a part-time junior accountant and she is now a trusted accounting manager leading the team. As a trusted advisor, she finds joy in dynamic challenges, listening to clients’ stories, and empowering them to take confident steps forward. Watching the firm’s partners transform clients’ lives showed her that accounting, when rooted in care and leadership, could be a powerful force for change.

For Shaira, relationships are at the heart of her work. Whether with clients or her team, connection allows her to see new perspectives and reflect on her own journey. She is inspired by the team at Genesa and motivated by the shared growth that comes from working together.

Once hesitant to use her voice, she now speaks with confidence and shows up as the dynamic leader she is. Shaira leads by example through authenticity and vulnerability. One piece of advice that continues to guide her is that it’s okay to say “I don’t know” and to ask for help because that’s where growth begins. Through her journey, she has discovered the freedom to express herself fully through the colours she loves, to feel and laugh as loudly as she wants, and most importantly, to be herself.
Beyond work, Shaira finds joy in hiking, skiing, rollerblading, and traveling - whether exploring the Canadian Rockies, visiting Ireland, or dreaming of future trips to Japan, Switzerland, and Iceland. She is creating her life and career to continually demonstrate that authenticity, resilience, and courage can create impact both personally and professionally.

Shaira envisions her story to be an inspiring example for other women who, like her, have come to Canada from afar. She wants to show that it’s possible to ask for what you want, to be proud of the struggles you’ve overcome, and to embrace the journey that shapes you.
